About Me
Hi, my name is Bernard Parsons, I am a Project Manager and IT professional based in Ontario. My interest in technology started from a young age when my parents bought me a 386 desktop for Christmas. I started tinkering and tweaking with everything I could in DOS and Windows, sometimes things worked out and sometimes it lead to a reformat. I studied Software Engineering and have been working in IT for over 10 years. I have done everything from help desk, network administration, PC / Server support, application development, database administration, web development and more recently have started mobile application development. I have also experience in project management, training course design and delivery and ground up development of custom e-commerce solutions. I have worked with PHP, .NET, MS Project, Adobe Captivate, Windows, Mac OS, and Linux.
My Background
After graduating from Mohawk College with a diploma in Software Engineering, I had a wide range of knowledge ranging from software development practices, network maintenance and web development which could take me into many different sectors of business. My first job was working help desk I did that for a couple years and then started to look at furthering my education.
I enrolled in the Bachelor of Technology program at McMaster University and took a job as a PC support technician while also doing some software development. McMaster University taught me a great deal more about managing an IT environment, and running a business. I took classes on project management, creative thinking, accounting, and human resources just to name a few.
My role changed from being primarily a support person to developing a custom e-commerce solution for Braemar. Eventually I moved from being a contractor for Braemar to an employee and I worked Braemar till September of 2008.
Present
My current role sees me working as a project manager for KUBRA. As a Project Manager, I am owner of the projects within my defined portfolio within the services delivery team. After the hand off from account management or sales I see the project all the way through go-live, and transition to the support team for ongoing operational and technical support. I am responsible for communicating and tracking goals including project deliverables, milestones and tasks, planning project timelines, and executing an outstanding implementation with an outstanding group of development professionals.
I also have my own consulting company B. Parsons Computer Services which provides technology consulting, software development, and user training design and delivery for our clients.
B. Parsons Computer Services has worked with many different clients to provide technology solutions which exceed expectations. Recently we enhanced a software application for a client and then designed a delivered training sessions to the end users.
